Overview Access to sex offender information in California is provided to the public as the result of the Jacob Wetterling
Registration Act, which was passed by the United States Congress and Megan's Law,
which requires states to release relevant information about registered offenders

Telephone Access
The Sex Offender Identification Line telephone service allows California residents
to inquire about specific individuals. There is a $10 charge per call with a limit
of two inquiries per call.
Sex Offender Identification Hotline
Mail Access
Organizations, businesses and individuals wishing to check on six or more persons,
such as volunteers or employees, may submit a mail-in request form. There is a
charge of $4 per name to be checked.
