Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry
Overview Access to sex offender information in Massachusetts is provided to the public as the result of the Jacob Wetterling
Registration Act, which was passed by the United States Congress and Megan's Law,
which requires states to release relevant information about registered offenders
to protect the public.

General Information Written requests may be made to local police departments or the SORB for information related to Level II and Level III offenders. Information about Level III offenders was to be made available online on May 15, 2003, but on May 13, 2003 the Massachusetts Superior Court issued a temporary restraining order prohibiting the Sex Offender Registry Board from posting any information about Level 3 sex offenders.
Massachusetts Sex Offender Information
Online Registry / Online Directory The state of Massachusetts publishes information on the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board website about registered sex offenders livinig or working in Massachusetts. The information about Level 3 sex offenders went online on August 4, 2004 after a unanimous ruling by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court on August 3, 2004 cleared the way for the information to be shared via the Internet.
The full name, age, race, gender, physical characteristics, home or work address, offense, conviction date and a photo (when available) are displayed for each listed Level 3 sex offender. Offender records are searchable by name or city and are browseable by county.

Written Request and Other Types of Access Downloadable forms are available to request information about registered offenders. Information can be requested from a local police department or the SORB.
