In-Person Access California residents can search the computer-based Megan's Law Database for serious and high risk sex offenders either by name or by area using a zip code. The following information is provided: name, physical description, date of birth, ethnicity, zip code of residence, offenses requiring registration, identifying marks, scars, tattoos, aliases and in most cases a photograph. Viewing stations are available at 12 sheriff's stations and police departments.

Telephone Access
The Sex Offender Identification Line telephone service allows California residents
to inquire about specific individuals. There is a $10 charge per call with a limit
of two inquiries per call.
Sex Offender Identification Hotline
Mail Access
Organizations, businesses and individuals wishing to check on six or more persons,
such as volunteers or employees, may submit a mail-in request form. There is a
charge of $4 per name to be checked.
