Texas teens increased sex after abstinence program

Article Overview Abstinence-only sex education programs, have had no impact on teenagers' behavior in his home state of Texas, according to a new study. According to the director of the study, Dr. Buzz Pruitt, the Federal government is expected to spend about $130 million to fund programs advocating abstinence in 2005, despite a lack of evidence that they work.

Article Overview In California, it's illegal for a registered sex offender to enter the state's sex offender registry web site, but a registered sex offender in California used it to look for dates and to locate friends of his. He admitted to sending out five letters looking for dates as well as scanning the registry for friends in San Mateo, San Francisco, Santa Clara and Alameda counties. One of the men who received a letter contacted his probation officer, ultimately resulting in the sender's arrest.
