William Nesler, 23, severely beat neighbor David Davis, 45, early Sunday, less than an hour after being released from jail for having beaten Davis a month earlier in a fight over tools. His mother, Ellie Nesler, ignited a national debate when she walked into a courtroom in 1993 and shot twice-convicted child molester, Daniel Driver, 35, five times in the head as he faced seven molestation charges, including one related to her young son.

Donald James Chase, 47, was arrested Friday on a warrant charging him with 45 counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor and two additional charges. Chase pleaded guilty to third-degree sexual abuse of a minor in June 2003 in a case in which he originally was charged with a first-degree offense. The complaint alleged that he had sex with a girl in 1995, when she was 12.

Man admits trying to have sex with 13-year-old

Article Overview A 42-year-old Daytona Beach, Florida man admitted to a federal judge Monday that he traveled to New Jersey twice in an attempt to have sex with a 13-year-old girl. Dennis P. DelPriore pleaded guilty to traveling in interstate commerce to engage in illicit sex with a minor and possessing images of child pornography on his computer. He told U.S. District Judge Freda L. Wolfson that his relationship with the girl started as online chats, during which he discussed sex and hoped to persuade the girl to engage in sex acts with him when he visited.

Judge scolds teen girls for nude photos

Article Overview Two 16-year-old girls who attend Northside High School in Roanoke, Virginia were charged with production and dissemination of child pornography after taking nude pictures of themselves after Christmas 2003 and emailing them to their boyfriends. The boyfriends apparently emailed the pictures to others and the photos eventually spread to schools throughout the Roanoke Valley and to multiple web sites. Judge Philip Trompeter will dismiss charges if the girls stay out of trouble for a year.

St. Paul sex offender charged in kidnap, rape

New TN sex offender law begins August 1st

Article Overview A new law in Tenneessee which goes into effect August 1st will require convicted sex offenders to register every time they move, get a new job, enroll in school and move out of state. They will need to register any changes within 48 hours with local police, failure to register will be a felony (it's currently a misdemeanor) and violent offenders will need to register 4 times per year.

Charges coming against mall rape suspect

It could be one of the largest sexual assault cases in Wisconsin history. The bill was authored in response to a case in Victorville in which elementary school teach John Desilets was charged with suspicion of continuous sexual abuse of a minor.

Polk County: Officials detain sex offender

Polk County Attorney Greg Widseth and a prosecutor from the Minnesota attorney general's office filed a petition Friday to have Piker committed indefinitely as a sexual psychopathic personality and sexually dangerous person. He was released Monday from a state prison in Moose Lake, Minnesota.

Mom changed law, but son still on sex-offender list

Linda Zimmerman, co-founder of Citizens for Second Chances, helped lead a movement that last week prompted Michigan lawmakers to change the sex offender registry law. The bill, which could be signed by Governor Jennifer Granholm this week, would keep young sex offenders whose statutory crimes involve victims close in age to them. However, the bill doesn't apply to those young offenders who have already been convicted, including Zimmerman's now 22-year-old son, who pleaded guilty to attempted third-degree criminal sexual conduct as the result of having sex with having sex with a girl two months short of her 16th birthday a month before he turned 19.

Suit filed against sex offender, children's aid

Article Overview An $8 million lawsuit has been filed against now-deceased Ontario, Canada repeat sex offender Douglas Moore and the Peel Children's Aid Society. The suit was filed by a father who alleges his son was sexually abused by Moore while under the care of the Peel Children's Aid Society. The 36-year-old Moore was a convicted pedophile and is suspected in the murders of three young men. Moore killed himself in an Ontario jail in April.

Assembly Bill 488, the measure to post county registries online, has passed the Assembly. Merced County Sheriff Mark Pazin is also backing the bill. Currently, counties in California can post high-risk offenders on their websites, but the full sex offender registry is not available via any of the county websites.

Gary Beaver sentenced as sex offender

Article Overview Garry Beaver, 57, the husband of Mulberry City Commissioner Vicky Beaver, received 10 years' probation and a year in the county jail Friday for trying to molest an underage girl and related charges. After sentencing him as a sex offender, Circuit Judge Bruce Smith said he thought Beaver had been a pedophile for more than 30 years, as prosecutors argued at his trial. Beaver, who maintained his innocence until the very end, will need to find a new place to live since his designation as a sex offender will not allow him to live in the house he and his wife share next to Mulberry High School.

Article Overview A Hunterdon County man, Brian Baldwin, 47, with several past sexual assault convictions is charged with kidnapping and attempting to molest a 15-year-old boy Wednesday evening, authorities said. Authorities said Baldwin grabbed the boy by the back of his neck and forced him into an alley. The boy apparently fled before the attack could continue, authorities said. Baldwin later told investigators he had a sudden impulse to have sexual contact with the boy.

In 1998, Wayne Glasser pleaded guilty to sexual assault of a 14-year-old child using force and sexual assault of an at-risk adult - a 21-year-old woman with Down Syndrome. In April, Glasser was found guilty of violating his probation by picking up another hitchhiker, whom police said was a prostitute and could face up to 17 years in prison when sentenced in August. Both Glasser and his wife claim they have been harrassed both at the house that burned down and t a prior home.
