I advise all users of this site to go to google.com and type in the words "my partner pedophile" . Just go down to the third entry, entitiled "Masking". Click on it. Maybe some of you remember the post.

What do you think? I will try to be objective about this and assume that whoever chose to broadcast this meant well. I do not know what happened. I thought this site was "private". But my understanding of the internet and etc. is poor.

Any advice? Or are y'all just laughing at my naivete about now?

Please respond. I think that something has gone wrong. And I won't hesitate to say it this time. What gives???????????????????????
What is going on??????????????I have already sent a "private" message to steve.

I will take silence as a sign of your contempt for anyone who innocently believes that this site is a secure place. Are you done laughing?

oioi

I'm sure Steve has or will respond to you in a satisfactory manner, so I'll leave the explanations to him. But I will say that nobody has chosen to specifically 'broadcast' your post.
This is nothing new. In fact, I use Google's ability to search a specific website to locate old threads here. Did it just last week to find that 'pet store' thread, as that was faster than looking through the looong list of previous posts I've made or DP1 has made.

I originally found this site as a result of a google search on sex offender issues. I never would have realized this forum existed unless some of the posts in the forums didn't show up in google searches. Of course, I didn't know at the time that RSOs were posting till I actually posted for the first time and got ambushed by pedos and RSOs.

You are not naive necessarily but...you have to know that the internet is anything but private. If I do a search for a username or a title, the search engine will check all sites that have paid or are enlisted to be searched by that engiine. If you search for usernames, you will fiind different sites those usernames are listed on, forums they might post to, etc. If a title comes up, it means that those specific words are in some title somewhere on some site. Your username is what protects your privacy to some extent. It has nothing to do with Steve or anyone on this site. If I were to start a site of my own, I might enlist and pay for certain search engines to list me, let's say, on the first page of "hits" at a rating of 97%. That way, if I want people to visit my site, that search engine will have me as one of their fist 10 hits. Depends on how much I pay etc. It's all about advertising.

I've looked up usernames from forums and I have found that several are on other forums but, they might not be the same people, just the same username, etc. Go to google search and put your name in, or your phone number, you'll be surprised. You can search for just about anything these days.

please, no offense here, but why would you possibly feel this site was prvt???

as far as I know even the forum here is open, meaning anyone can join........
it is not set up to be a prvt forum, unless of course if admin/steve has changed something, and I was just not aware, as I do not frequent here much anymore.....

but, as I said, I did not ever think that this forum, was prvt... it is a open public forum......... only thing I know of as being restricted here, is the posts are subjected the admin allowing them/rejecting them.

peace, anti

oioi, I already responded to your private message about this yesterday, but for the benefit of others I'm going to reply to your post here as well (in more detail).

First, SexCriminals.com is a privately owned and managed web site (the collection of pages and documents accessible via SexCriminals.com), which operates a number of publicly viewable discussion forums (the site and forums aren't equivalent - the forums are a subset of the site), all of which currently require individuals to register for a user account and login in order to post messages that are either reviewed before being posted, reviewed after being posted or reviewed after administrators are alerted about a potential problem.

Almost all pages on this site have the potential to be accessible via search engines. In a nutshell, search engines use programs called bots, which regularly visit pages on this and other sites and index and analyze the text on those pages. When a search engine user searches for a phrase, the search engine returns a list of pages that contain that phrase, ranking them based on very complex and secretive algorithms that are intended to rank the best matches highest.

SexCriminals.com does not pay any search engines to appear closer to the top of search engine result pages or for any other purpose, but pages from this site rank highly for many frequently searched terms (such as nevada sex offenders) and also many rarely searched terms (such as my partner pedophile). As a result, a large percentage of the visitors to this site each day arrive here because they clicked a link to a page on SexCriminals.com that appeared as the result of conducting a search on a search engine.

Earlier, I said almost all pages on this site have the potential to be accessible via search engines. The big exception is private messages. Only the sender and recipient of a private message can access it. Search engines can't access them and neither can other users or visitors to the site.

I welcome and encourage users and other visitors to provide feedback and suggestions about the site. If there's something that's misleading, confusing, incorrect, missing, etc. I appreciate the feedback, especially if it comes with suggestions on how to address the particular problem or shortcoming. If and when there's good reason to add one or more private forums that are not accessible by search engine bots and/or visitors who aren't logged in as users, I'll be glad to discuss and consider that. And if there's something you've posted that you're not comfortable with those who aren't registered users seeing, please contact me via Private Message to discuss.

I hope that my reply was useful. If anyone, especially oioi, wants to discuss further, feel free to. If there's further discussion, I'll probably move this thread to the "Site Goals and Ideas" forum.

Dear OiOi,

With respect didn't you know that?
I've been pleased to find when surfing the web for ammunition and propaganda ,for my repetive polemics(aimed at the public, who may only visit once),to find I come across my old threads.
Now has it occurred to anyone that you are contributing to a potential historical document?(go and read one of those "tools of history",books).
Resaerchers in 5 or 5000 years may come along and look at these threads when writing the history of these times and specifically the sex offender situation. It may be immortality.
I'll bet that they research in the same sprit that they write the history of Salem and Mc Carthyism, with "Megan's" law part of "The history of the American witchunt".

I can understand your confusion about thinking that anything that you had to sign in to post to was "private" but it's certainly not the case with most internet forums. But there's a first time for learning everything. It must have been upsetting to you, if you have posted things that you are worried about getting back to people. I made some suggestions to Steve in the forum for site ideas. One of them that might address your concern is to make more explicit the understanding that posts to this forum are NOT private and are publicly viewable for anyone with a computer. As for people ragging you in their responses I think if you hadn't started out so defensively with the last paragraph of your response that people might have been a little more understanding. I hope you continue to post. It is always good to have a different perspective.

as far as I know, lol not if the forum is a prvt one....
some forums are prvt, some are public, this one here is public, as anyone can read posts here, even if they are not a member, etc.....
very simply, as if you are a member here, able to pm others, etc, yet before you sign in, just come here, and you will still be able to read all posts, etc, just not reply.

so, therefore it is a public forum, not a private one.

just wanted to ad dmy 3 cents in.
