Probably not the most informed opinion. I developed it reading forums and listening to my nephew speak of his experience. I guess it's broader than that. I was in treatment a while back and there where a number of teens in the same facility. They had the same kinds of journal keeping requirements for addicted teens as they did sex offenders. If their journals did not reflect a lot of juicy detailed anti-social fantasies they were brow-beat in front of video cameras until they fessed up or else they were punished. The video was freely viewable at the nurses station.
I have had my personal share of fun with psychologists too.

I was curious if your opinion was based on personal experience, second hand knowledge or recidivism rates. It's one thing not to like something or agree with it and it's another to evaluate it's effectiveness first hand. I have opinions about the various programs in my area for example. Some therapists I like more than others. Some programs I like more than others. The one program I try to steer people to is the one with the best results.

Don't know about your experience but the only therapist I know the measures sexual stimuli with his trusty peter reader is a male. Go figure? Does anyone know any female therapists that do this? And just for the record, I absolutely refuse to refer people to the peter reader. If they go to him it's because they found him in the yellow pages. What a bunch of bull to charge offenders $200 to measure their penis at the END of therapy. What a joke. Sounds like racket if you ask me. If measuring responses was anywhere near scientific in the first place then why doesn't he start from a baseline and do the test BEFORE therapy then compare the results at the end? Duh!
