I watched the Woodsman last night. I must say even as someone who hasn't acted out I can relate to the feelings of lonliness and despair exemplified by Kevin Bacon's character.

People just can't understand what its like to live a "secret life". I've got adult friends (a few), I have somewhat of a sex life now, yet its always a second choice for me. My "desire" is completely taboo and can't even be discussed.

You know several years ago I met someone in RL who was a pedophile as well. One thing I noticed was how "relieved" I was to actually have someone to relate too. We almost never talked about our illnesses rather we just seemed to understand each other.

Even now in a gay enviornment I have to "pretend" and "fake it" when a cute guy walks by much as I used to when a cute girl walked by. I also have to go out of my way not to "follow" a cute boy with my eyes for fear of being seen.

Yes its a tortured life. Its livable but there are struggles and despair. Given society has no desire to help those who are sick (even those like me who have never acted out) I'm actually surprised we don't have more molestation cases.

I'm certain there are thousands of people like me who don't act out but have this "secret life". We see them everyday arrested at age 30 for some computer crime out of the blue or something. It's always a "surprise".
