The main character seems very tortured, but seems to want to "get better." He feels that the suggestion by his therapist to journal is carp, but he does it anyway and apparently it turns into a valuable tool for him.

I identify VERY strongly with Kevin Bacon's character, though I'm not an SO or even a convicted criminal (felon or misdemeanent). As a black man in this society, the stigma I face is some cases is as bad as his SO character. I noticed that no one except the boss, and Kyra Sedgwick's character even dealt with him positively, and Kyra played the part of a tough woman and was seen as lesbian. That is not far from what type of treatment I've come to expect and deal with. Outcasts tend to deal with other outcasts. I'm dissapointed that the movie seemed forced when tryting to humanize Bacon by having him beat up Candy, the Virginia SO who's arrested in the hospital. Maybe they should have had an epilogue, 10 years later where Bacon is either back in jail, or still out.

See an abbreviation or acronym, but don't know what it stands for? Consult the Glossary.
