I saw the movie. For the SO afraid of seeing it because it might trigger something...it doesn't show any acts of adult/child sex--altho it does show some adult/adult nudity/sex. The main character seems very tortured, but seems to want to "get better." He feels that the suggestion by his therapist to journal is carp, but he does it anyway and apparently it turns into a valuable tool for him.
Tho very bleak, I find it strange, and almost refreshing that the main character is almost portrayed as a hero at the end.
The scenes of harrassment at work were very realistic.
I wasn't impressed with the main character living across the street from a school yard (which apparently was crucial to the plot) and all the beer drinking.
I thought the GF situation was a bit odd....I thought it even odder that she helped him out with his "daddy" fantasy after she seemed totally freaked out that he was a RSO.
I thought the relationship with the main character and his brother in law was sincere and honest until the RSO asks him if he ever has sexual thoughts about his daughter. We are never told who the victim was or what was done, but seems like it might have been the niece....
All in all it was a bleak, drawn out movie...and it made me feel very uncomfortable watching it....
