The Woodsman is a powerful film. Kevin Bacon’s performance as Walter is amazing. I could not escape the irony of one of the crucial turning points in the movie. One of Walter’s co-workers discovers via an Internet posting of registered sex offenders that Walter is one. She shares this with other co-workers who harass Walter. Walter has been trying to walk the straight and narrow and re-enter society. When the door is “shut” to him by his co-workers, he goes out to seek “comfort” where he should not. He almost “lives down” to everyone’s expectations. He almost molests a young girl he befriends in a park, but does not. The irony is that the posting of information on registered sex offenders on the Internet does not protect the young girl, but arguably puts her in more jeopardy.

See an abbreviation or acronym, but don't know what it stands for? Consult the Glossary.
