My first group therapy with my now new therapist and other SO's wen t pretty good. It was last night and I really found it to be very positive. Mostly it was an introduction to who I was, talked about my background, my sexual offense that caused me to go to prison and also covered a few of the other times where I molested where I didn't get into trouble for. It was basically a Q&A with the therapist and other offenders. I got a back ground of the sessions and all that. I think that its going to be a very positive thing to be going to this group. There are at least 15 other SO all ranging from youngest being like 20 something to oldest being like close to 80 or so. I just found it to be a very good meeting, they have two meetings a week which I think are good because I think its needed to get some of your minds like mine off of thinking about kids like I do. Anyways just updatng what is going on with me.

Jake,
I was just curious about your new group....are there any volunteers there? Non-convicted SO's or self admitted pedophiles who have not been arrested or court ordered? I'd be interested in hearing how motivated they are and what prompted them to enter treatment. I realize you may not have had the chance to hear everyone's story but if you do....

Jake its good to hear you had a successful first group. What is your therapist like is he/she a nice person?
I don't remember is your therapy court-mandated? Do they let you see whoever you want? Are there any polygraph requirements or anything like that?
Good question by DP1 are any of the people in the group "volunteers" or are they all there by court mandate?
How far along is this group? Are they all "new" to therapy or are som far along and others not? I remember the group at the UofM I was in it was a real mismash of people yet the group I went to here in Phoenix was all "stage 1-2" which meant people very early in the therapy process.

All of the non-SO's are volunteers and clients of my new therapist and they have not been arrested for a sexual act against children but they have realized years ago that they are attracted to children on every level so they joined the group to get insight on what SO's are going through and they learn what not to do from the SO's like myself and the SO's are supposed to learn from the non-offending how to manage our feelings without sexual offending. My next meeting is tonight so I guess I better head out.

How many of the 15 are non-acting pedophiles (volunteers)?
Im curious how they found the group.

And actually very promising.
Someone has accepted that not all pedophiles are "bad guys", and is actually using that.
