I told a few

Gender: Male, Age Bracket: 21 - 29, State: District of Columbia, Country: United States

I told a few of my close friends, and also my parents, about my orientation.

I will not come out publically, as that will only serve to wreck my life without a reason, as I am more than sure that I will never harm a little girl.

A phone call with my best friend at the time, who we had worked on university projects, and spent much time together.. went like this...

Me: "Now you know"

Him: " I do not want you to talk to me, or any members of my family ever again, I do not want to work with you at university, or talk to you, and also do not contact either, you need help..."

Me: "Feel free to ask what you want about me, before judging me so harshly."

Him: "You need help, Bye." *hangs up*

That went as I should have expected, although I at least expected him to ask me about it, I mean, since then I have not contacted him, and he has not contacted me.

Contrawise, I told another friend, whom I knew, but more recently had not seen that much but we stay in contact, about my orientation, he asked me about a few things that unsettled him such as if I would have sexual relations with little girls, to which I answered no, I would not, and well, he said he can't understand it, and that he isn't totally okay with it, but he is still my friend, because he knows I will not ever do such a thing.

My parents also accept me, because they trust me (they've known me all my life, and I am very open with them - I mean, I've told them about my orientation for heaven sake, I can't be much more open than that!), and know what I am capable of, and not capable of.

Another friends, we discussed the issues, and helped to weight it on both sides of the coin, such as from the perspective of someone who is not a pedophile, and I believe this has been beneficial, if not always a positive thing.

That was how it went though. Quite good over all I think. It could be much worse.

See an abbreviation or acronym, but don't know what it stands for? Consult the Glossary.
