I was thinking that it would be nice to have a thread on the victim's corner that was a little more upbeat and encouraging.
All of us that have been victimized have been through some horrible things--yet many of us have turned from "victim" to "victor". This is the place to post you story about how you overcame being victimized, became empowered, or otherwise have managed to live beyond the tragedy in a meaningful way. It is important for those who have been recently victimized to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
I will start by saying that when I was raped when I was only 15 I thought life was over. Now, I am 30, and I have accomplished alot. I prosecuted my rapist, and though he was unfortunately acquitted, I will never regret it because I took a stand. Taking a stand made me realize that I didn't ever again have to suffer silently or let anybody take advantage of me again. I found such a strength through that, I know that I can get through anything and depend on myself. I went on to college and now I am almost done with a doctoral program.
