dp1 said: Just curious. Do you handle your tupperware with the same care as you would your grandmother's china? Considering how many times you've broken china or glass over the years compared to the amount of times you've broken tupperware bowls your actions have been tailored accordingly to minimize the damage, no?
Absolutely. Based on the fact that I was raped by an acquaintance with no criminal record, who appeared intelligent and completely "normal"--I have tailored my actions accordingly. This means that I am never alone with men I don't know well. To put it this way: I have a violet several-time-felon living in my apartment complex. I say "hi" to him when I see him in the hallway. The guy gives me the creeps and always has, even before I knew about his record. I find it unlikely that this person would attack me (if he were so inclined) in the hallway or parking lot. However, if he knocks on my door to borrow a cup of sugar, I'm not answering if I am home alone. If he ever asked to come into my house to use the phone, no. I'm not being alone with the guy. However, I would treat the non-felons that I don't know the exact same way. Granted, I'm more "paranoid" than most, but this is based on my earlier experience as a rape victim. But I wouldn't harrass the guy, inform my other neighbors of his record, or tell my landlord (if he doesn't already know) just because the guy gives me the creeps and has a record. He hasn't done anything to me.
