While I am in 100% agreement with you and am offering not one argument in what you are saying, one thing that this site has shown me, is that they in fact, DO, have to live somewhere. I wish that there was a simple answer to the problem. Until there is not only, a simple answer, but ANY answer, then the only thing that can be done is to keep up with the education of parents AND children to keep them on thier toes and rendering thier own protection. As sad as it is, they do live in the same neighborhoods.
I, like you, lived in a crimeridden, gang infested neighborhood when I first got married. It was a matter of discussion if we did NOT have a drive-by shooting (they couldnt shoot, as the only thing they ever hit was the apartments) each Saturday night!! My kids NEVER went outside to play..I took them to a park in some other neighborhood. I also did not let my neighbors into my life..but I live in California where that is the norm. No one wants to know the neighbors.

See an abbreviation or acronym, but don't know what it stands for? Consult the Glossary.
