Too much. The children of the world will have to wait until we figure out how to protect our own.
Watched a documentary on sundance about the czech republic and the mass of kids that live on the streets. It's horrifying. People treat them like garbage. Literally. The police do not take them seriously. The most they will do is return them to the homes or orphanages they ran away from.
But we do the same thing in the US. It's always in the hands of the state or the parents. It is NEVER in the hands of the children themselves.
We can't solve these problems here without some constitutional strengthening of children's rights. Look up the NYRA on google and go to there forums and read. But you have to read them all to find the ones that will tear your heart out.. A lot of kids are just disgruntled with their parents. Some are being raped and seriously abused and their is nothing they can do about it. They are scared to death of putting their lives into the hands of LE and the state. I don't blame them. They are in trouble becasue they have no control and LE and the state will certainly not give them that.
All they will get from them is more disruption of their lives and worse the state social workers will continue to rape and abuse them with a look of love and pity in their eyes.
I've been strapped down on a guerney and had drugs shot into my veins against my will by big scary interns with looks of pity on their faces. When someone is in trouble they need to be listened to. The only way to insure that is to make laws that give the individual the right to speak and the right to choose their own treatment.

See an abbreviation or acronym, but don't know what it stands for? Consult the Glossary.
