DP1 has made an excellent point. Pedophilia is a phenomenon that we may never understand for some time to come. I think genetics, environment and experiences all play a role in the development of a pedophile. I believe that pedophiles are no different than homosexuals or heterosexuals who want adults. That being said, I believe that just as there is no cure for homosexuality, there is no cure for pedophilia. All that can be done is treatment with behavior modification, drugs or whatever can be used to prevent a criminal offense from occurring. Like alcoholism, they will always be a pedophile fighting an addiction. Should we lock them all up for life on a first offense? Depends, was there force? Multiple victims? See, There are even variables when it comes to offenses against a child. Any violent rape, murder, kidnapping and forced graphic pornographers all need 25 to life, period. What about these 90% familiar offenders such as parents, grandparents and such? A pat on the behind or some touching between cousins 13 and 9 should be treated like capital crimes. Even a parent who has sexual contact with their own child may deserve a second chance upon treatment and rehabilitation. Again, let me repeat, anyone who uses force to commit any crime, especially sex deserves to be locked up and the key tossed away for a very long time.
What we cant have is a “one size fits all” mentality as we have now. People are as varied as the crimes they commit. The sentences given should be reflective of the crime committed. In the case of the poster in question, this guy deserves to be plastered on the net somewhere because he has shown that he repeats his offenses and may do it still yet again.

See an abbreviation or acronym, but don't know what it stands for? Consult the Glossary.
