I am truely sorry for the pain yor family has been caused. I know that I can not attone for ths sins of another, but i can empathize with your situation.
That said, if there is any possible way of exposing your daughter's agressor, without causing her any more pain, DO IT! We don't get help when people hide our sins under the carpet. He WILL do it again. It was not a random act with no thought. He purposely set out to hurt your child.
Now, I want to beg you not to ever stoop to his level by trying to hurt him physically. You are a mother and you love your daughter and I can imagine that causing him pain is a thought. Fight it please. Your daughter needs you to be her example, now more than ever.
As for christians teaching that bad things happen because God is punishing you-well-no. Period. He doesn't work like that. Otherwise, I should think that certain parts of my anatomy would likely have been forcefully removed as punishment. No, He will punish in time, but not like this. Your daughter has done nothing to be punished for, and don't ever let her believe otherwise.

I think this was written to what Dead Mom Walking said in the “Vent and Understand” thread. I just wanted to note that what she said was that some Christians believe this, she didn't say that all Christians do. She also didn’t say whether or not she regarded it as a proper understanding of Christian theology.

earthson and others, when replying to a message in an existing thread please use the "Reply" link instead of the "Add Thread" link. "Add Thread" creates a new thread (discussion) and when you're addressing a message from an existing thread it makes it difficult to impossible to know what message you are referring to. Thanks.

I don't usually come to the victim's corner to speak or even read, but I guess since i just sent a reply earlier about Christian doctrine I thought I'd pass along a word myself. When I was in prison sex offender treatment was NOT mandatory but only suggested. Out perhaps 300 SOs there we had maybe 20-35 active members at a time. Why were we there if not to to look good on parole or because we were forced to do it? because we wanted help. We KNEW we did something terrible and desired NO MORE VICTIMS. I wish more people WOULD follow Christ's teachings. I had a recent bad experience with the Salvation Army, who refuses me every kind of assistance because of my SO status. Others hate us because we lower property values or because they fear us. But whatever the reason, we cannot hate them but love them as Christ loved us and gave His life for us, but we CAN HATE SIN. I abhor the wickedness of the sins that I have caused others and others caused in. The most powerful weapon for we believers is PRAYER. We are to live by a new example. Trust me on this--if you live righteously and you are totally honest with your past, YOU CAN change peoples' minds through God's grace and by living a holy life

I don't believe that God makes bad things happen to us because we are bad, or even because he wants to test our faith. I think people do bad things because they choose to and these things damage other people. God doesn't have anything to do with it.
It has been a long time since I considered myself a Christian but I have returned to prayer because, quite frankly this burden is to much for me to carry and I don't don't where else to turn. Unless we can heal the damage done to her soul I don't believe my daughter will live through the year. She believes that because evil things happened to her, that she is evil, that she causes evil and that the only solution is for her to die. The last time I saw her she broke my heart. I asked her to think about what she really wanted from life and she became very quiet and looked out the window and said, "What I really want is to die. I am so tired. I want to be at peace. I want everyone to understand and just let me go. I have tried and tried but I can't fight anymore. I have screwed up my life so bad that there is no way back. I don't hold anyone responsible but myself. I am the bad one. I am the one who made a mess of things. I don't blame D (the perp). I should have been able to get over it. It's not his fault I reacted the way I did. It's my fault it happened. He's right. THere's something about ME that turns men into animals. I wasn't meant to be. I am sorry for the people who love me but they will get over it and things will be so much better for everyone when I'm not here. Just let me go Mom. It's for the best."
There is nothing I haven't said to her a hundred times that she will believe.

I just read your last post Dead Mom and I am so sorry. I know that an apology is not what you need and I don't dain myself to have any answers for you. I can only beg you to not give up the fight. There is always hope as long as there is God. I don't know you or your daughter, but you will forever remain in my prayers. May god bless you with the miracle you need.

Thank you Earthson for your compassion and prayers. I don't expect you to apologize for something that someone else did to us but I do appreciate the gesture and I hope it is healing for you as well. I do believe in the power of prayer. Each night I pray for strength and healing for our family and for guidance and forgiveness for my own mistakes. My daughter has recently made 2 suicide attempts, but she lives in spite of her efforts, so God is looking out for her. In the last few days I believe she is turning a corner. She is starting to really try to work through her fears and guilt and horrifying emotions. Until now she has been just ignoring the healing work she has to do and just trying to get back in the race and catch up. I will continue to come back to the Victims' Forum from time to time, so perhaps will catch up with you again.
