That's a great question. My gut feeling is that he probably wasn't convicted of a sex crime. Can you find out exactly what the charges were? The military generally tends to minimize sex crimes in my experience. They may have charged him with aggravated battery, for example, then gave him a big chicken dinner (BCD...Bad Conduct Discharge). I might be wrong, but it would be interesting to know what they actually found him guilty of.
