A friend of mine who recently committed suicide was living with a convicted child molester. The molester was his adoptive dad and was convicted in the year 2000. My friend was 13-shouldn't somebody have removed him from the home or checked on him? He lived in Iowa. The dad molested a 13 yr old . My friend was 13 when he died this year.

There are terrible people out there that have no right to ever have a child or adopt a child.
From the Child Protection stand point: Social Workers and Child Protection Workers do very extensive background searches on prospective Adoptive parents.
In Minnesota this man "Never" would have been given a child to adopt. I feel so very bad for your friend and for you. The thought that anyone would put a child in harms way is just sick and wrong. (If in deed this man adopted your friend and had a history of this magnitude. This is a very big alligation to not be substanciated.)
I feel that the county that gave this sexual perp a child not only did not do their job, but they should be held partially responsible if this man ever assaulted your friend or had anything to do with his death. What a sad story.
Situations like this is why I went into the Child Protection field, to protect the children and get rid of the workers who don't. My best of luck to you in your healing process and for sharing your story.
