A couple of months ago a paedophile who abused two wee girls badly, was only given a sentence of four years.The Lord Advocate came out and said the sentence was too lenient. Today in the national papers it says, the paedophiles sentence has been raised to five and a half years.(Big Deal)The parents of one of the children are very angry about it. Do you blame them? In the UK (HERE) with good behaviour he will be out in two years. It is a disgrace.Another case recently was of a man who raped an 18 month old, wee girl.The animal even filmed it. He only got five years because the judge said he was not likely to do it again. What kind of sentences do other countrys give to paedophiles. It would be interesting to know.

Honestly us yanks aren't much better. It depends upon the state guidelines and the judge you get. some get off lightly some get life. I know that basically there is no justice for child molesters BUT you can count on the fact that if the prison polulation knows what they did.. no matter how small the time they will experience the same or worse then the children got.
they usually put child molesters in solitary the whole time for their own protection. It is a shame that convicts have more of a sense of justice then the courts .

So does Darlene say that sexual offenders should be attacked by their fellow convicts? ,who may be murderers,drug dealers ect,does she say this is rightWhy should someone serving life for a violent offence be encouraged to think he's better than someone doing 90 days for a non predatory sexual misdemeanour?
The truth of the matter is that even the briefest prison sentence for a sexual offence may turn out to be a death sentence.Sexual offenders,including "Romeo and Juliet" offenders IE teenagers who have done silly things with their underage boyfriends or girlfriends,often no more than a touching game at a party,stand to be cut,burned,raped and possibly killed in prison.How would you feel if this was your son or daughter?
So what about rape and sexual abuse in prisons?this is perpetrated against both men and women,and often juvenile boys and girls,by both convicts and prison staff.It is ubiquitous ,and the norm in American prisons and young offenders institutions.There are websites on this terrible subject,just type keywords into a search engine to get them.
Most rape and sexual attacks in America,particularly against juveniles, take place in prisons.
But the campaigners for "Megan's" law don't concern themselves with this

I do not advocate RAPE of any kind, but I do not feel sorry for the molester either when Bubba comes knocking.

So you think part of the prison "process" should include being sexually assaulted? You should pray like hell that none of your relatives or loved ones ever has to experience prison. Will you be talking out of the other side of your mouth when that happens?

So instead of not advocating rape of any kind, you'll tolerate a certain kind of rape with no feelings attached behind it as long as it fits where you've drawn your line on the subject.
All rape is rape--doesn't matter what the justification is behind it. Prison rape is now, like all of the other types of sexual assaults that have been brought forth throughout the last few years into the public's consciousness, becoming a focus of injustice towards another fellow human being.
The line just keeps moving further and further out until it is moving to encompass all forms of rape. May you grow along with it as it expands out!

Here in Aust. it's the same old, short sentences to start with, parole with good behaviour, let out to commit again. Until the people really stand up and take this to the courts, nothing will change. If nothing changes, people will start to take the law into there own hands,who could blame them, i know i would.

Darlene - I feel terrible for ANY prison inmate when your Bubba comes calling to rape, mame and/or kill him just 'cause he's a child molester - just like what happened to the late Father Geoghan recently. Our society is full of angry, vengeful people - out for blood - against sex offenders. Every human being on this earth is worthy of our every salvation. No one is unsalvageable. Kids get over whatever "abuses" occurred. Yes, I do feel sorry for the victims and their families. However, taking away yet another human life to "Avenge" the victim serves no purpose and does not deter crime. Anger and revenge only breed more anger and revenge - and more crime.
Our country is nothing but a bunch of inane and grossly abusive warehouses and cagekeepers in which danger and violence brews ominously every day. Sooner or later offenders will be released back into the very society which has scorned and humiliated them - if we don't kill them first in the chair. It makes no sense whatsoever to cage a human being for life and teach him nothing but self-degradation, self-hate, and violence.
If anyone in your family ever goes to prison, you'll be singing a different tune.
I know. My husband is in a prison cage, serving a life sentence.
I have built a prison reform organization which I hope will someday be successful at rooting out the ignorance of so many people like you, and successful at passing prison reform legislation by wise and compassionate politicians - if there are any out there. And even if I'm not successful, I hope I will have provoked and upset society and will get some of you to think more compassionately and intelligently toward our fellow man. To paraphrase my idol - Dorothy Day - successful revolutions begin with a revolution of the heart.
I am disgusted by our country and how we abuse over 2 million men, women and children in steel cages. And then murder them legally. Hence the upside-down American flag on my site: the international signal of a country in distress.

I think the government and the rightous are carrying this whole sex thing way beyond what it should be. God created and gave no lessons. He did direct us to love one another. This country has made this an easy target for people to be arrested for sex charges. ALOT of them are in prison that shouldn't be. Granted, there are some who belong, but now even our children can say the word, even if not true, and it's us who are guilty. I know. 3 victims who all had sex offenses, accused another, but the 3 victims, who had offenses were MORE CREDITED then the accused. There is no justice. The day the accused was locked up, the 3 victims who had convictions also, hit the accussed with a $200,000.oo law suit. Now he sits and they walk. This country is going to H__.

What do you mean, "they'll get over it"? If so, then won't the beaten and maimed inmates "get over it"? And won't the families of murdered inmates "get over it"? Your attempt to take the moral highground has failed miserably.

I agree a person that can do that is more the just a creminal but I don't think that he should be put in jail at all. Any one that can be capable of such a thing with a baby has a mental disorder and should be commited to a housepital for life. As for the judge that said he didn't think he would do it again. He must relize that someone that did that has a desire to do that and has more then likely done it before and not gotten caught.
