Visit: http://beta.sexcriminals.com/signup.html
1. Signup for a user account. During the process you'll be sent a code to the email address you entered. I advise leaving a browser window open so you can easily return and paste the code in.
2. After you've signed up for an account, log in. Note that you'll receive a second email with your username and password for your records.
3. Click the "Forums" link from the menu.
4. Test it out. Right now there is no moderation since I want people to test it out.
I discovered a problem with the signup process so I had to remove some optional fields like state, country and gender, but after you visit the message board and click on the link for my name (steve) next to one of my posts you'll see what appears in the user profile. Note that gender, state, country and date of birth will be optional. Also, message board alerts will be enabled tomorrow - this optional feature allows you to periodically be notified about new posts to the message board.
Notice that there are other menu items on the beta site. Feel free to test them. Many of the links throughout either don't go anywhere, don't go to the right place or load a blank page - I realize this. I have a different version of the site I'm using for development and I migrated some of the functionality to the beta site even though it's broken or unfinished.
At this point please do not focus much on the minor details like formatting, colors, font sizes, labels, etc. I want to make sure it works, add other features as they're ready and get feedback about functionality that's there and functionality that's missing.
I expect there will be quite a bit of feedback and problems I wasn't aware of.

Help?

Looks great. Everyone should register (it's painless) and try the new site out. Lots of great features.

Did it eventually work? I see a user "Silverthorne" with what looks like your email address and their user status indicates the entire signup process was completed.
I noticed it's letting usernames with capital letters and spaces be created. I'm probably going to fix that and modify any effected names and notify their owners. This is just for consistency and a minor programming related issue.

I'm not sure. When I login the main area of the page reads:
Login Successful
You are now logged in as user steve. Congratulations.
Can you elaborate so I can investigate?

Steve -
The first time i loged in - I got the success notice - when I hit the link for forums, that is when nothing came up. - then I did it again and I got the success message and hit forum and got to the threads.
There was also a problem loging in my name - it would not take spaces and caps - I retyped it (lower case and no spaces)and it came up correct with caps & spacing.
It all works now - don't know what that was.

If all you want to do is read posts...then there's no need to register. Just go to the link Steve gave in his post above and then click on "Forum List" in the top left hand corner of the webpage -- you'll go straight to the forum in read-only mode (bypassing the registration page). You don't need to register to read. Registration is only required to post a message. And even then the registration is minimal. No personal information required, except a valid email address.
Steve...I hope I've got all this right. If I'm wrong please block/delete this post. I was afraid that people might start thinking they had to register -- maybe leading to a loss of readers.

I don't understand why you don't allow capital letters and spaces? Seems more readible for me to login as H. Pierce than hpierce or as I have it now h_pierce.

Capitalization and spaces use extra CPU time so for free accounts you can't use them in usernames. Later I'll have a paid account option which will allow up to a certain number of capital letters, spaces and other CPU-intensive characters per username.

Can you elaborate on the reason for cpu utilization?

When viewing a thread or forum click "Add Thread" at the bottom of the page to start a new thread. When viewing a message, click "Reply" to reply to it.
If you don't see either link you are not logged in so login first. If you haven't registered, click "Login" at the top menu, then follow the instructions.
