People are released with "conditions of release" or "conditions of Parole/Probation." Every state is different so it depends. Each judge is different and alas, each case is different. From what you said the crime was assualt w/attemped sexual penetration and you "did not" state the age of the victim. So, if the victim is let's say 15yrs old then a standard condition of release is "no contact w/ minors and contact must be authorized and supervised." So, your question depends on the age of the victim.
