I am also doing a report on sex offenders and was wondering if you had any information about the lifes, before and after, of the criminals and the victoms? I was also looking for percent numbers of crimes (rape and non rape related) after prison. If you have an opinions on the subject it would be nice to hear them. Thank you for your time.

you know I visit this site just about every night and I try to help those who have questions though I never really get any confirmation that I have helped. I always leave an email address incase more info is desired though. If you want to know my back ground go to Rather not say written on 4-9-01.It is only a little but it will give you an idea. I will pick apart your question and answer it piece by piece.
First of all the life of a "criminal" before a sexual offense is normally very physically and emotionally tormented. Most sexual offenders are sexually abused themselves especially from a young age. So they are tought that this is ok or that it is not ok but it is the only way in some cases. Some are physically or verbally abused. And we can not blame it only on the parents, cuz a sexual offender could live in the soundest of American Model Homes and be picked on or beat up by his or her fellow peers for being the class geek, the slow learner the permiscuous one, or the poor one. Sibling Rivalry to one who is sensitive can stick. See someone is not just born a sexual offender or see it on tv and say "thats what I want to be when I grow up" becoming a sexual offender is a slow growing process. It starts out as the offender being the common butt of jokes... then becoming alittle more aggressive alearned trait,... then as the thoughts enter the mind of the offender it frightens him or her so isolation is a key but not for long... giving up that this is how he or she is bound to live it's life but determined to fight it they enter society once againwhere something pushes them over the edge and they resort to what they know in steps. 1)Sensitivity to the situation and the other person. 2)Agression the learned trait, i.e. yelling and physical abuse. 3) shock of actions in short period of isolation. 4) Then gives up and does as thoughts tell them losing control. This can happen several times and as each time progresses the steps quicken to the 4th and final step often skipping steps. Even after incarceration. The offender until wanting help will continue because he or she is convinced it is hopeless and that these thoughts will run there lives forever. After a certain period of time an offender may desparately want to change. Rehabilitation is a very good solution. It is not a lost cause. Mentally a sex offender suffer from a form of mental disease that branches off of post traumatic stress disorder. And psychosis mixed into one. In other words it is the impulse to result to sexual violence due to past frustrations and traumatic events. Often triggered by a simular stimuli. It is the "triggers" that may happen in everyday life that must be rehabilitated along with coping skills that must be learned to deal with the feelings of what comes up incase of a trigger. Just as a drug addict may walk back on the city streets, a sex offender may walk among us and you would never know it if properly rehabilitated.
The lives before a victim is much more difficult to sum up or form a theory about. Rape is not a discriminatory act it happens to those who lead the most healthiest of lives and then those who werebeaten and abused all there lives. But one thing is similar after a sexual attack the quality of life in almost 90% of all victims decreases drastically. Some lose self esteem some lose interest in the opposite sex all together!!
I hope I have helped you in some way or another. If you need anymore info feel free to email me.thanx

Justin I think you need to expierence a little compassion. I would wish you to walk in a day of their shoes, but fear that you may end up dead. By your hand or someone like you!

Nichole I think you need to experience a little education. I wish you would stay in their shoes, in prison. You melodramatic crap is not even funny, it's half-wit. Your poor ethics, moral character and mindset are a perfect match for your spelling, grammer and verbatum.

My spelling and grammer are not half as bad as yours. And my language is 100 times better. It is difficult to type with a child in your arms! Everything I have said is true...
