Why Is A There A Link to Age of Consent Web Page?

Why is ther a link from SexCriminals.com to the Age of Consent web page? If you look at their 'editorial' page its clearly a
soapbox for pedophiles. What's up with that?

We chose to list ageofconsent.com under Useful Sites because it provides useful information on age of sexual consent and ages and conditions for statuatory rape. It's interesting to note that the laws vary greatly from country to country and from state to state within the United States. In addition there's information on laws and punishments, definitions of terms and a list of articles that are educational and give one insight into how other people think. This info. can be used to educate, to skirt the law or as evidence for or against one's views.
The sites we list or mention on SexCriminals.com do not necessarily express the opinions of those at SexCriminals.com. Some sites may have some material we do not agree with, but we chose not to eliminate a site with useful information just because it may have some material we do not agree with. I find that I learn as much, if not more, from the thoughts and opinions of those that don't share my views and come from different social and geographical backgrounds.

Justin, not at all. The site in question provides an extensive amount of information about the age of consent in many countries and within each state in the U.S. Though you've apparently formed your own opinion about the intent of that site, I'm not going to speculate on its intent. I hope to avoid cliches and analogies, but access to and knowledge of the laws and info. listed on that site can be used for good purposes.
Those of us responsible for sexcriminals.com (myself with input and assistance from a few others) feel that it would be worse for us to exclude a resource b/c it may contain views we don't agree with than it would be for us to include it and have a few disagree with us for it. Believe me, we've weighed this issue heavily. We've decided to be selective about what opinions we share, what resources we include, what news stories we list, etc., but we decided it would be a mistake for us to censor and limit the views that people have. We'd rather present information that respresent different opinions and facilitate discussion between people with different opinions than wield the sword of censorship. We're comfortable with this because most people have the capacity to decide what's right and wrong and form their own opinions and understanding and being exposed to others' opinions and their rationale can be very insightful. If we all shared the same opinion then there wouldn't be sex offenders, we wouldn't have built this site and you wouldn't be interested in the subject.
If you do find a better age of consent resource please let us know and we'll consider adding it as a resource instead.
