I want to inform people of a convicted sex offender who attends Northeast State University in Kingsport,Tennessee. He spent several years in prison for the molestation of an 8 year old girl. He is majoring in criminal justice and child psychology. There is a girl at the school who lost custody of her children because her babysitter let him take her daughter for the day without the mother's consent. The mother had no way of knowing this man's history because he had moved and had not registered. Also, only certain sex offenders are required by law to register under Tennessee's new code (July 1, 1997). Now the mother has to prove herself "fit" in order to try to retain custody of her children. Don't ever think things like this can't happen to someone you know. Bad things happen to good people.

how can i check to see if someone i know may be a registered sex offender. i am knew with this computer stuff and would like any help that you could give me. there is a man in my neighborhood that rumors are is a sex offender

Julie, where do you live? If you live in the US, about 60% of the states and a number of cities and counties have sex offender and sex predator databases and registries online that you can search for free. They vary in what they allow you to do, but most allow you to enter a name and / or partial address and then display the results. Laws vary from state to state so you could have a sex offender in your neighborhood that isn't required to register. And some states and localities don't have info. online, but do allow you to get info. by writing a written request (sometimes there is a fee). Others have no. info available to the public. If you post some more info (please don't post names of suspected offenders, city/state/country will do) we can be of more assistance.
Please take a look at our sex offender database directory at http://www.sexcriminals.com/registries.html (Sex Offender Registries button on menu on this site) as well.
If you're outside the US, you may be able to get info. too so let us know and we'll help if we can. If there's no info. available it's not a lost cause - we can start a petition to let your government representatives know that you want one in where you're located.

Just do a search for Sex Offenders. There will be a list of choices from you to choose from. Pick the one that you want. Also, I just want you to know that rumors aren't always true. And if someone in your neighborhood is registered that doesn't mean that they are predators. That's why there needs to be a short description with what these people are charged with. Just remember, someone 18 can have a relationship with someone 16-17, which is not uncommon, and they can be charged with sexual assault even if the 16-17 wanted the relationship. This person will have to register on the list and didn't really do anything that people think he or she did. Just wanted you to keep this in mind.

this subject was brought to my attention to be living one block from me and i would like to know what sex crime he was convicted of twice asi have a 13 year old daughter
