I've heard that some states will continue to keep sex offenders locked up even after they've finished their sentence. They do it when the criminal is deamed to still be a threat to society. Is this legal?

I need help in finding specific cases of child sexual molestation and the sentencing that the offender received. Can you give me any internet addresses in which I can find this information.

I have a friend who was persued by a girl who kept telling him that she was 19. It turned out that she was an uncontollable teen and her mother could not maintain any control over the girl's activities. It also turned out that Fred had sex with the girl (at her insistance) and then the girl's mother decided to make Fred's life miserable by having him charged with rape.
Fred was convicted of Statutory Rape and was sentenced to prison [usually in Oregon this is not a criminal offense, but a misdemeanor]. He spent a year and a half in prison and then was forced to undergo "treatment" as a "child molester" by a local psychaitrist who billed him for each visit and ran up a bill of thousands of dollars. Fred tried to explain that he was not interested in children but that only made the psychaitrist extend the sessions for another six months.

I worked with Fred on a construction job site and saw this girl come out to the job site on many occasions looking for Fred and trying to catch up with him. She was the one who insisted that they have sex, too. Fred was a willing participant, but he was under the impression that the girl was 19, not 17.

Fred has spent his time in prison, and now is required to report his whereabouts to the police as a sex offender and is constantly harrassed by the local police and by the friends of the girl.

My main point is that not every case of sex is a forceful act and not every case is simply cut and dried. This time the victim is the guy who has paid his dues and then some. He was guilty of being stupid and of not being careful about what he believed to be true. He was a victim of a man hateing mother who could not control her daughter and decided to make an example of someone else. He wasn't framed, but he was not treated fairly. His name would be stuck on the same list as real perpetrators and he would be harrassed no end in this town. If he had been a 19 year old himself he would have had his wrists slapped and would not have had any prison time at all.

If you know of a good lawyer who would be willing to look over the evidence and consider appealing Fred's case, just to help clear his name, please email me at the above address and give me the number and/or address I can contact.

As in any case of law, there should be some form of justice in it's execution.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, I hope you can help.

Bill

I have a friend that was accused of the same thing . The girl is not together with herself,
She was just looking for the next man to put away. She completed her task. He was put away for this. He lost his own family due to this . It is not one bit fair. This is not fair to him or his family. They need to do a back ground check on some of these girls. She has other men put away for the same thing. I am not saying this is allright but some other things need to be check out too.

I think that when an adult violates a child he or she has crossed a line of no return. How could society ever trust an individual that was capable of such a deplorable crime. I put this question to proponents of light sentences, would you want these individuals when released from prison living in your community around your children or grandchildren?

you can search the web under Meghan's Law. The law originated in New Jersey, but New York State now has enforced the law. Also look under sexual abuse

There is not a whole lot of information out about child molestation, but the best site for the information you seek is http://www.wsipp.wa.gov/crime/cprot.html . This is the web site of the State of Washington which has done extensive research on the subject of molestation and predator registration. If you have any problems finding the information you seek, just email me and I will send the information to you. Lynn

Is it legal is not a good question as laws change and Americans will gladly give up freedoms for the illusion of protection.
Arizona is doing this and it smacks of prejudice and hysteria. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
