Sex offender registry in Massachusettes

I live in Boston and there have been a lot of sexual assaults of women here in the news lately. There isn't a sex offender registry for Massachusettes listed on this site. Does anyone know if there is one and where I can find it? Is there a way for me to find out about sex offenders in my neighborhood?

Thanks.

Vanessa

Vanessa, as far as I know there isn't an online sex offender registery for Massachusettes. Here's a news article about sex offender registration and notification and legislation that the governor signed last year (http://www.state.ma.us/eops/releases/argeo_s_offender.htm). And here's an article from a short time later about a judge's injunction blocking the law (http://www.state.ma.us/cpcs/sorb/home.htm).

From what I understand, it may be possible to find this information if you complete a record of inquiry at your local police station or by writing the Sex Offender registry board. I do not know if this is currently accurate as there have been several legal challenges to sex offender legislation in your state.

I suggest writing your senators or House delegates. Email addresses for your senators are:

John Kerry: john_kerry@kerry.senate.gov
Edward Kennedy: feedback@kennedy.senate.gov (this address isn't officially listed, but I found it in the source code on his contact form web page)
