My kids are still small but many parents with teenaged children seem to spend a lot of time tracking their kids. I'd GPS them in a heartbeat if I had to spend more than 10 minutes a day worrying about their whereabouts.

I can think of a time or three when I wished I could pinpoint the location of my daughter in her younger years.

A child isnt safer if they have a gps because the fact if somthing happens its going to happen and by the time anyone even knows that somethings happened it may be to late , only thing good from it is that a body can be located faster and yes we will be seeing more of those as the sex laws become more knowledgable and future predotors become more violent

I'm aware of services that sell GPS stuff for parents to put in the teenagers cars. Like "black boxes" they record driving habits, speed, braking, some even have cameras that mount on the back deck and record everything going on in a car.
Its no coincidence that more kids are killed with other kids in the car then when driving alone. Peer pressure and "I'm a kid" kick in. Many states have laws prohibiting minors from having more than one other teenage passenger in the car at a time.

GPS watches for kids will soon be available at wherifywireless.com. There is currently a waiting list, which I am on, to use their product. There are certainly limitations to GPS technology, but I think my children would be safer. If there is ever a question of where the child is, you can simply look online or call a phone number and locate your child, real time. It is designed for younger children (not teenagers to check up on them) ages 7-12.

While GPS watches are great for tracking your child's movements, don't rely on it to keep them safe. The watches are easily identified, and some savvy abductor may simply toss it into an open boxcar on a passing train. While you chase the Illinois Central bound for Omaha, he and your child will rapidly head in the opposite direction.
Child abduction by a stranger and sexual psychopath is terrible. Fortunately, its occurrence is extremely rare.
