As I understand it, rape is a very specific offence where an actual act of penetration has taken place. Given the diverse range of sexual offences which can be committed, to call coerced sex "rape" is far too simplistic.
Yes, it is an offence as is any act of coercion upon another, but which of that broad list of possible sex charges applies will depend on what actually took place. Thus each case will need to be determined on its own merit.
Yet one more area of human interaction, where emotional responses to an horrific scenario can get in the way of good sense. As Actavail said, this is a very complex issue with no simple yes/no answer possible, which is why I voted "not sure" to indicate "it depends on the what took place".
