Somehow I read your post as you not being in favor of these actions. Can you elaborate?
Sure. I think that our police have better things to do with their time than lurking around chat rooms telling people they are 13 year-old girls and hoping an adult will initiate a sexual discussion. But for those who are caught, I have no sympathy.
What I have a bigger problem with is private individuals doing it. Outfits like PervertedJustice.com. Now if that isn't a fitting name for a website, I don't know what is. Because they are all perverted. And the police don't care too much for them, because they've blown a few cases the police worked months on. I get the impression that PP is one of this ilk, or one of those cops on a site I visited that is advertised on this site somewhere. They do the chat thing, not always "officially", and post the logs and make jokes about them. Of course they're text files, so they could be making every one of them up. They even have a special section and group who targets teachers. But if you ask them about cops who commit sex offenses, they'll block you IP address.
