How I have waited for a question like this to be posted.
I have mentioned in previous posts that I was a rape victim as a teenager and my husband was recently convicted of a contact sex offense against an adult (his first offense of ANY kind).
OK, so here is how it goes in my world. My husband was just released days ago, so far no problems. I would really like to know HOW all of the people who say they are going to "get the RSO out" are planning to accomplish this.
If you do anything illegal toward me or my husband, I will proudly get a restraining order and then forward copies of said order to your employer, family members, and anybody else necessary to show what a law-breaking lunatic you really are. If that doesn't stop you, then, I will be conducting a background check of my own. Hopefully, you won't have a single embarrasing thing in your past that I can stumble on, because if you do, I will be informing everyone who will listen.
Basically, I like to mind my own business. However, I am willing to take on a mob with my bare hands if my husband or myself are threatened or harassed. Frankly, there is nothing you can do to get an RSO out of your neighborhood, legally. However, I will use any LEGAL means necessary to fight back. That is a promise. I would certainly hope that all RSO's would do likewise if forced.
Those of you that rigteously want all RSO's out of your backyard make no sense to me. If you really think they are all a danger to children, then I guess you don't care if they move out of your neighborhood and molest other children. Just so long as they aren't hurting children in YOUR neighborhood, right?
Here is a nugget of fact about my own neighborhood. My next-door neighbor had all 3 of his children permanently removed from his home and had his parental rights terminated. This is because he seriously physically abused them. But he didn't sexually abuse them, so he isn't on any list. So you wouldn't know about him, would you? So while you were busy harrassing my husband, who has never been accused of doing anything to a child, this guy would probably be at your next barbecue with your kids. This makes no sense to me.
If someone wants to show pictures of RSO's to their kids and tell them to stay away from "that guy", it is fine with me. However, harassment is wrong.
The bottom line is, RSO's are already listed. Everybody already knows who you are. There is nothing to lose by fighting back legally. Please don't move because your neighbors don't like you. If anyone would like to harass me or my husband, I say: BRING IT ON!!!
