I understand the point you were trying to make, but it's wrong the way you said it. The registered sex offender is more likely to sexually abuse the granddaughter, *but* since most sex crimes are committed by someone who isn't yet a registered sex offender *and* registered sex offenders only make up a tiny fraction of the population, if her granddaughter is sexually abused, the perpetrator is more likely to not be a registered sex offender than to be a registered sex offender. The same logic would hold for the likelihood of being murdered by a convicted murderer. Surrounding yourself with convicted murderers in an attempt to reduce your risk of being murdered would be illogical though. The same with convicted sex offenders.
