I would treat them like any neighbor. Actually, such a person is less of a threat than the average, because everyone supposedly knows to be "careful" . Most sex offenders are never caught.
I don't think I would befriend them, though, because I don't believe in getting too close to any neighbor. But in the event of an emergency, I would be there for them like for any other neighbor.
Unless they did something hurtful or offensive. But that goes for anybody.
