I, too, was on Depo for about a year. It did reduce my sex drive alot, which in my situation was a good thing, even though I was using it for birth control. Sometimes I think about going back on it, actually, even though I don't need birth control.

I definitely think that it is prudent to put rapists on the drug. Of course, as with any drug therapy, the patient should be monitered for dangerous side effects. I would definitely recommend Depo to anyone who has any reason to reduce sex drive.

Having a sex life should be like driving a car - a priviledge and a responsibility, not a right. A person who uses a car to assault someone should have their license revoked. Chemical "therapy" for sex offenders is the closest thing we have to revoking their license to sex. Even in prison. If I was in a cell with a rapist, I sure would feel a heck of alot more comfortable if s/he was on Depo.

See an abbreviation or acronym, but don't know what it stands for? Consult the Glossary.
