I took Depo for less than a year. I now know why it's an effective means for birth control. If there's no sex drive your chances of getting pregnant are slim to none. Personally, I didn't care to walk around without libido, so I quit taking depo.

If it has similar effects on men then it's a "must have" for SO's who fixate and act out repeadedly on impulse. It's certainly a better alternative to prison if the SO was willing to accept the treatment and really wanted to make changes in his life. If they would just change the name of the treatment from "chemical castration" to "hormonal therapy" it wouldn't have such a negative connotation and could be more palatable.
