Trying to find convicted felons with guns;-))
I used to hunt. But it was in true naturist fashion as in it was only for food, never for sport. So far felons are allowed to keep their fishing poles, so that's all I do now.

I used to.

I used to hunt deer, bear, wild turkey, duck/goose, rabbit and squirrel every season. I also trapped, and would get my cat nearly every year, lots of beaver, mink, a few fisher and ten million muskrats, lol. One year, sadly, we got a river otter, a very rare thing in WI, and that was sad.

I sucked at waterfowl hunting because I liked fishing better and would be scouting places where I thought that record Musky was hiding as the ducks flew over me laughing.

Rabbit hunting without dogs was my favorite, especially in mid to late january. Snow so deep yo need snowshoes to get the snowshoes, lol. But the woods was quiet, just the occasional cardinal chewing you out, lots of things to observe.

Things I have never forgotten, like watching the chickadees romantic dance. The male would get a seed and offer it to the female. She would either take it or toss it away, and he would go get another. I could watch them for hours, maybe see a few rabbits, but enjoy seeing the quiet beauty of nature too. We hunted rabbit and squirrel with 22's, my father and uncle saying it was not sporting to use shotguns to hunt with them.

Sometimes I would stop and take a break, just look around and see how many memories I could file away, knowing one day that forest might be gone, the Europeans taking more and more away. I would try to "feel" my heritage, to see if my ancestors would talk to me in their ways of old. Maybe they didnt like the taint of the German, Polish and Italian blood in veins, but I never heard them speak to me. Maybe I did and was deaf to their voices. Maybe it was their voices that made me pause and enjoy the quiet of my desolation. The bobcat in the blue spruce who thinks I cannot see him. The buck who has lost his antlers rubbing on an old elm stump, the itch of his velvet driving him bananas. Even the pesky ravens, who would tell everyone in the woods which direction I came from and where I was headed.

Once, oh I must have been 14 or 15, I was sitting there with my 22 and a 110 camera, taking pics of snow on evergreens, and I noticed a black spot under an uprooted tree. I snowshoed over to the spot and it was the back of a hibernating bear. I pulled off my gloves and gently petted the sleeping beast, and maybe it was then I sensed the vulnerability of nature and the power of man.

Of course I cannot hunt with weapons now, but one day I hope I can hunt with a camera and a canvas in that same woods.

Renster.

Fishing is great, but wouldn't you still be allowed to hunt during Bow Season since it is by defination not a "firearm"? Heck I know I always preferred Bow season since it was less intrusive to the environment as far as noise goes.

I kinda miss being in the woods! LOL

Yucca trees, cactus and smuggling paths make for horrible hunting grounds.

Like you, we ate everything we harvested except bobcat and what we trapped. We would sell the carcasses of our trapped animals to mink farmers, who used them to feed their mink. A good supply of lean meat makes for a VERY nice mink pelt. Wild mink are pretty nappy, but farm mink are awesome.

Yes, I can. And in some states I can fish with it as well. Texas at least.

I suppose so, until somebody decides the Wildlife Management Area is a "park" and I can't be there.

I saw a shirt today that made me immediatly think of you and I just KNOW you would have laughed your heard off if you had been with me!!
It had a beautiful picture of a wooded area with all the wildlife that you would see in a clearing in the forest..very nicely done...
above the picture it says..."Each of God's creatures has its own very special place"
Under it says..."usually under the gravy"

In order to take me up on the offer, you will have to arrange a trip to WPAFB northeast of Dayton, OH It is a wonderful place and one of the best bases the military has to offer. Needless to say, I spend a lot of time there both for work and to fulfil my duties to the DoD which is combat sims

check it out here http://www.wpafb.af.mil/

Valerie should get one of those redneck hunting T-Shirts where the picture shows them using dynomite to hunt with. The caption on it mentioned something about hunting. They have a similiar one for fishing too. I have seen it sold at Camp Snoopy, but I can't find it on the Internet right now. All I can find is one is a redneck deer stand, which is funny too. Give Camp Snoopy a call at (952) 883-8600, and ask about the redneck hunting apparel.

Actually, it's funny you mention that. I was just looking at the "buffer" zones in Seminole County, and wouldn't you know it, the Wildlife management area along Highway 46 is included in those areas that RSO's are not allowed to be within 1000 feet of.

Not sure the county has the right to designate a particular piece of property a "park" when they don't own it. WMA's belong to the State or the Feds.
If the county can call anything it wants a "park" they can tell the RSO to move if he has a swingset in his yard. Or a pool.

yeah I have a better picture of it too. Actually I was thinking of doing a drive by and snapping my own picture of it....but then I figured someone would call the local LEA and I would probably get charged with stalking or some other such nonsense.

Oh I agree with you, but if you look at the Seminole County Banishment Zone Map, you will see a VERY large chunk of land just west of I-4 on SR. 46 that is included. I think they are getting away with it by listing it under the name Lower Wekiva State Park. and of course, since the name "park" is on it , they feel they can automatically ban you from visiting it or even driving by it.

A friend of mine is a CO in a federal prison..... he said most of the natives that are locked up are there for sex crimes. The rest, no surprise are mostly drugs....

Head to CT. All the "natives" there look like Fins.

6'5" tall, blonde and blue-eyed. Big boned.

Somehow proved lineage and own casinos and trying to get more built, lol.

I think they are backed by little brown third-worlders, you know about those Val, Italians.
