The old message board is now included in the current forums as its own forum. The entire forum is currently locked so that no one can post to it.

Do you think it's of value to unlock that forum? People do come to specific messages directly via search engine searches and others do browse message posted long ago, but historically very few old threads get posted to.

Since there was no user registration system while the old message board was active, some usernames conflicted with existing registered usernames, had several spelling variants or were incompatible with the existing system. In light of that, I created an algorithm to make the usernames compatible and prepended them with the characters "x_". For posts written by current registered users, I am considering either changing the x_ usernames to their current usernames automatically or allowing individual users to request that I do so. For example, Orolan is currently orolan, but posts from Orolan on the old message board are as x_orolan. Do you have preferences on how this is handled?
