I'm proud of the users posting to the new forums. As many of you probably recall, I was planning on coming up with detailed rules for the forums and a moderation process which would allow some users to become moderators and users that demonstrate consistently following the rules would not have their message subject to pre-approval.

I'm still planning on implementing such a system, but I wanted to say that so far the behavior on the new forums has been much better than on the old message board. You may notice that some messages are tagged "Rejected". As of this email, 23 of 722 attempted posts have been rejected, but all but one has been because it was an exact duplicate of another post.

I suspect that those were due to the user clicking "Submit" more than once or refreshing the page that displays after submitting, but since I haven't investigated I'm not sure. I will be implementing a mechanism to catch duplicates and prevent them from being recorded.

Everyone here should pat themselves on the back. Considering some of the topics can get pretty heated, emotions can flare and users come from many different backgrounds I think that by and large everyone has consistently demonstrated good behavior on the new forums.

Feel free to comment in this thread or to private message me if you have something related to mention or discuss. If my perception is way off, you don't like how the forums are setup or you have suggestions about things that can be changed, added or removed I want to hear. I can't promise I'll implement everything suggested (or do so quickly), but I do take all suggestions seriously.

Steve, you dont need to change anything for me. I was on a message board for my town in Scotland. We used to have some great discussions on lots of topics, from local issues ,the war , so called asylum seekers and of course the sleaze in the royal family and our M P's. Someone came on under lots of assumed names and started to curse and swear in every letter. We have all left the board now. It was a great discussion board up until then. Keep up the good work.
on here.
