Schneider said detectives had yet to develop a motive for the killing,

Shouldn't be hard to figure out. Anybody see a pseudo-FBI agent in the vicinity?
Copycat killing.
I better wax up the bow strings and hone the bolt tips. 2006 might be a bloody year.

we already know the motive, that isnt hard to guess. I bet the cops wont spend any real amount of time trying to solve this homicide.

Another interesting point to note. We now have as many RSOs killed as we have little girls killed by RSOs such as Lunsford.

Maybe its time for Garrett's law or the James Garrett RSO protection act of 2006 since there appears to be an epedimic of RSO killings equal to the epedimic of RSOs killing children

It's easy to jump to conclusions, but keep in mind that with half a million convicted sex offenders out there, statistically we should expect a few dozen to be murdered each year simply based on the U.S. murder rate. I've noted this in the past (1, 2, 3) along with my belief that as a whole, convicted sex offenders likely fall in categories that are at higher risk of being murder victims than the average person.

Here's an article and discussion about a convicted sex offender murdered in 2004. [Duluth News Tribune] Racine County man charged in shooting death of uncle Note that in an earlier thread (linked to from above), some concluded or suspected he was murdered by someone who found out about his past on the registry, though that turned out not to be the case. We'll have to keep our eyes on the James Garrett case.

where did you ever come to that conclusion Dad? I cant believe you would say that. Have you ever wondered on to a murdered children website? while your there read the circumstances of MOST of the children posted there. I only wish the numbers of RSO's killed by just having RSO status in comparison to the children on these sites were even close. Perhaps you want to compare the number of children missing and endangered each year to the numbers of FTR SO's...and the fate of each group. Spend a few hours here.

i have visited that site, val. What I was doing was drawing a conclusion based upon media biases that are so prevelant in todays world.
sex crimes against children as an overall percentage of crime statistics are so insignificant as to be incalculable. Less than 1%, but as a result of a few high profile cases, Any offenses that even hints at having "sex" attatched to it conjures up images of satan himself raping and torturing kids in the minds of the radical fundamentalists. So now we have these banishment laws and registries that place people like Couey on the same plane as someone who had a partially downloaded CP photo.

Why wasnt it enough to simply place those who committed a violent sex crime against an adult or child, or someone who sexually abused a young child or a repeat sexual offender on these registries? Isnt that what they were meant for?
The registries have totally lost thier meaning since they have been hi-jacked by radical politicians using scare tactics to add every imaginable offense to the list.
Lets face it. Things have gotten way out of hand

SEX OFFENDER KILLED

I have to agree with everyone else that it is not to hard to figure out why this man was shot. These sex offenders seem to get off with a slap on the wrist and it just sickens me. If I were them I wouldn't spend to much of my time trying to figure out who did this. I wouldn't doubt if it wasn't a family member of a child that he has hurt before. These sex offenders are very ill and need professional help, because once a sex offender in my opinion will always be one.

http://www.protect-the-kids.org/

Do you believe in that site and trust what they say?
Straight off the home page:
People talk about Megan’s law. But Megan’s Law will save few children’s lives. Same for the Amber Alert and missing children sites.

I'll agree with that. When it comes to saving children, these laws and websites are worthless.
With over 2000 children missing a day...

Won't argue with 2000 kids missing every day. But since only around 100 are the victims of stranger abduction(NCMEC data), or one out of every 6000 or so, it seems concentrating on RSOs is like trying to blow out a match while the house burns down around you.
...and a pedophile for every square mile of America, (250,000 to 500,00) using these resources alone is like going to a gunfight armed with a knife.

This one's hilarious. There may indeed be 250,000 pedophiles in the USA. Might even be 500,000. Probably more than that, a very small portion of which are also registered sex offenders. But one per square mile? Somebody flunked basic 6th-grade geography, because the USA covers just over 6 MILLION square miles. The fact that they would even say the size of the USA in square miles VARIES from 250,000 to 500,000 is as stupid as you can get. What, does it grow and shrink with the seasons or something? ROTFLMAO
Most states, if not all, have lost track of the majority of their registered child molesters.

Really? Better tell them that. Because the states think they know exactly where 4 out of 5 are. States like Florida can guarantee they know where at least half of them are, because they're still locked up:-)) West Virginia I believe is missing maybe 1 in 100, the best in the nation. Hardly "the majority".
And only the extremely dangerous are even on the registry. Worse yet - most states don't even have a sex offender registry.

Can you BELIEVE this garbage? Who wrote this stuff?
This is a grave dishonor to Megan Kanka, who, in 1994 was abducted, raped and viciously murdered by a neighborhood pedophile that was out on parole for identical crimes.

The fact that New Jersey has done NOTHING to toughen up the sentencing and parole eligibility for repeat child molesters is where the dishonor is.

This site has some serious credibility issues. While the stories are indeed tragic, fact is there is no clear majority of tragedies perpetrated by repeat offenders.

First of all Smitty, welcome to the forums. I’m glad you decided to visit this site because I think you need a bit of education.
Lesson one: All child molesters are sex offenders but not all sex offenders are child molesters. Not even all pedophiles are child molesters. Some of them may never harm a child.
Lets take our state of Indiana for example. Im sure you have visited the Sex offender registry maintained by the sheriffs department. I have as well. I have also studied it for a report I will give to the general assembly in 2 weeks. Did you know that 40% of those listed on the Indiana registry have not committed a sex crime against a child?
Did you know that 630+ people on the Indiana registry are there for having consentual sex with their boyfriend or girlfriend? Yes 18-21 year olds who had sexual contact with a person 14 or 15 years old willingly.
Did you know that nearly 200 people are there for exposing themselves in a park or having a homosexual encounter in a park with another adult. We have 3 former state representatives listed for exactly that.
Did you know a 17 year old girl went to adult prison 5 years ago for making nude and lesbian videos with her 15 year old girlfriend. She is still on probation for 7 more years.
Did you know that more than 95% of all Indiana Registered sex offenders already live more than 1000ft from a school(from familywatchdog.org website)and wont be affected if SB0002 is made law? Most of these are in Marion county and is due to school saturation.
Did you know that less than 34% of All sex offenders will ever repeat their crimes?
Did you know that the majority of repeat sex offenders are men over 30 with boys under 14?
Did you know that over 90% of all sex offenses AGAINST A CHILD are committed by a family member or close family friend? And again, 90% of them are NOT registered sex offenders.

Well now you do. Any comments?

Don't cha love the media? This guy could have been killed for any number of reasons. Maybe he owed his bookie some money. If he was a convicted bank robber found shot, the title would be "Man found slain in apartment."
I don't understand why there are even any references to "look how many children have been killed..." What's the difference? A life is a life.

That "sionnsar" is a character. He's all over the map about death being the only penalty for sex offenders and then talking about his friend on the registry for urinating in a Dumpster.
In other words he's as nuts as the rest of the anti-offender crackpots.
An then there's "proudofthesouth". If there was ever evidence that incest breeds idiots, he's it. Bet he had a hard time growing up wondering if he should call Mom "Sis" or Sis "Mom".

In cases of RSOs who appear on website, I prefer that the media report it:

Sex Offender Murdered

instead of:

Man Murdered.

The media placing the "norm" of website info being used to commit a crime, especially a murder into society is AWESOME. Why?

When the DWI website launches and someone who killed all but one of an entire family appears on a website, and gets his head blown off by the survivor, we can then truly take a good look at public humiliation websites, banishment, exile and other issues affecting everyone, not just RSOs.

Most of you seem to think its a logical procession for persons who abuse a child to take it one step further because of the laws...some of you forecast it as if its inevitable and sometimes in your same breath, you sound like "see, watch out, this is what will happen"almost as if you are condoning and defending that a perv may be driven to such an act, because of societies repercussions...why is it then so puzzling then, when a person retaliates against an offender or offenders you find that so unfathomable? Well I will make my prediction ...some members of society will find the ever revolving door of dangerous criminals that are continually shoved into their faces and their neighborhoods, that they will feel they have no alternative but to unleash their own justice..

That would be most unfortunate for your people.

Most violent criminals do not have the weakness of hesitation when it comes to hurting or killing a man.

Most of your people will have that hesitation. Alligators and quail do not shoot back Val.

To look a man in the eyes and be able to kill him takes a special breed of human, sometimes that act is done in the name of freedom and "spreading peace and democracy" other times it is done for evil.

If you and your child beating offspring were in Watts and tried to assault or kill a gangbanger for bouncing a basketball on your car, you would both be dead right now.

Maybe you and your people are more prone to sneaking around in the dark lighting fires for "justice?" But if you deliver your "justice" by sneaking around, is it really justice? To deliver true vigilante justice, you would have to face the person, look him in the eyes and then pull the trigger.

Maybe those days are coming tho, you are correct, and I feel it might be my duty to kill all drunk drivers. Maybe someone else here will want to kill RSOs, maybe someone else lost all their assets in the Enron scandal and will decide to kill all white collar criminals.

Of course, then the families of the people killed have the right to kill the families of those who killed their family members.

Meantime we bring the right to vote to Iraq.............

I have no fear of griteaters anymore than I do of the illegal immigrant mexican gangs in SoCal.

The south produces more than its share of RSOs Val.

When you say its a no win for me, you show you have a lack of sense of human nature. There is little need to "win" since there is little left to lose.

Alligators do not shoot back Val...........

You will mess with a real hard case one day. Your boy will try to kill the wrong kid for a serious basketball offense. Your area, the Dumb Belt, even with the griteaters and rednecks, is rife with some real hardened criminals, people who would cap you in a flash just for looking at them funny. I know, SoCal is full of the same people.

Viglantism has always failed throughout history. Why? Because one act begets another. You killing a RSO entitles his family to kill you or yours.

So which is it Ren? make up your mind, 3/4 of your post you spend trying to convince us that the guys on the registries are harmless and shouldn't be on there, the other 1/4 you try and convince me, to watch my back, danger, danger everywhere...I get the feeling, to the general public your saying, "relax" but to me it doesn't apply...Lets get an understanding, if I focus on someone and put my time and energies into getting in their face, you can bank they are hard cases and have a history to prove it...the south produces many RSO's no doubt. But if you commit a crime in my state, so be it, this state should take the responsibility...but offenders being able to freely cross states and jurisdictions is ludicrous. "Singletary" comes to mind...California should be a lesson in history books to point out how not to run a state....so I wont pay much heed to your bashing the south, you guys are a mess...I would still rather have the (Florida)mentality of cuff em and stuff em, then kiss em and huggem as your state does..

LOL

I only came to CA because their education system is SOOO bad that they cannot produce qualified talent to keep their own lights on.

Over 80% of the people working in power plants, water treatment and other infrastructure jobs are not native to CA.

The pay is nearly double what WI pays and I found cheap housing...... its a no brainer.

CA is easily the WORST state in the country for many things....... it is a complete mess! The food is amazing tho.

I dont care if you watch your back or not Val, your days are numbered.

You and your son were going to assault and possibly kill a child because he threw a wittle bally wally at your precious wittle car.

You could have KILLED that child............... for a car.........

That type of anger and lack of control will surely put you in prison or in the grave sooner than later.

At least I am in counseling and admit my problems...... I know I need help and I am getting it........

Its just a car, you were almost a child killer over a bally on your car.

Get help.

Hey, you and your are the ones who almost killed a child, not me! It was your story Val.

But no matter how I go out, I'd rather do it with my name than yours...

That goes without saying. Few people would want to die with someone else's name.

I would never give up being buried on the taxpayer dollar with honors for your name.

And rightfully so, you would never want to be known as a dead convicted sex offender just to be buried at taxpayer expense with honor.

That's what makes us individuals. Not everyone is Val, and not everyone is Renny and the world is a MUCH better place for all!
