"I'm nervous to go outside," he said. "There's some real weirdoes out there. You don't know what people may do."

Even with NO reports of vigilantism, his fear is apparent.

I thought the registry was for information purposes?

So what if his address was listed? Its not that big of a deal, no one in the village has harmed a RSO and it really doesn't hurt him or his family to be listed. Geez Dude, relax, its just a list!

I wonder what his kids went through in school though? I wonder what they will go through now? Somehow this is probably the RSOs fault.

Oh this is so rich.

In addition, Wozniak called Owen, offering assistance if any trouble should arise because of the mistake.

what trouble? Its just a list. totally a regulatory thing

Owen said the mistake was "devastating" to his family.

"I'm nervous to go outside," he said. "There's some real weirdoes out there. You don't know what people may do."

what does he mean by "devastating". what was so devastating about it. Its no big deal. hundreds are registered every week.

he doesnt know what people might do. why? no one takes any vigilante actions against RSOs. they are totally safe

Owen said he does not plan to take any legal action against the sheriff's office, unless something happens to his family. However, his family is considering a move from the rental house.

legal action? for what? you cant take legal action unless you are harmed by the actions taken against you an since its just a list for the public safety, there is no harm caused. 570,000 are on that list every day. according to our government, there is absoluely no harm in any way, shape or form coming to those on the list. I mean, gees, didnt he even feel safer thinking his name was on the list? he is just as much at risk to commit a sex crime as most of the RSOs on the list currently. heck, they probably did him a favor by registering him early

I agree. Statistically he is more of a risk of committing a sex crime than a formerly convicted sex offender is. So the State did him a favor by registering him early. Now he can get a taste of what it is like, and hopefully that will deter him from offending. Seems to have left a sour taste in his mouth. I wonder if he still supports the registries?

I love how the typical person in this country cries about how much damage was done to them by adding their address improperly to the list and how much they are in fear for their lives, but then those same people buy into the hype that the registry is not additional punishment.
