which includes a hot line for neighbors to report offenders' activities
Are there any Libertarians left in WI that live close to RSOs that would like to tie up hotlines reporting everytime the RSO does any of the following:
Lights on/off inside the home.
Mows grass/shovels snow
Leaves in car and what direction
Returns home and from what direction
Items carried into or out of house
License plate #s for all people who visit the RSO, when they arrive and when they leave and what they were wearing.
Hotline to report activities for people who have served their time, but only one segment of people who have served their time.
Sigh........ Anyone have any ideas what is next? What creative legislation will they test on RSOs next?
I wonder........... could a WI RSO call the hotine to report his/her own activities to cover their butts? I am sure it is recorded, and they could call the hotline and report when they leave and return just in case any neighbors decide to make up some lies...... Hmmmm.....
Orolan, how about a little skit that shows a WI RSO calling the hotline to report his/her own activities!!? LOL

Overall I thinkthe article was fair and accurate. It wasn't the typical hysteria that is most commonly published and had a few good points.

The article points out that offenders,including Romeo and Juliet's,aren't thew only ones living at the addresses.
Their Children live there too.
I've repeatedly asked for an estmate from anyone,of how many Children there are now living at addresses posted on the registry sites.
No one has ever made one.
It must be many thousands,and rapidly growing.
How long till some of thee poor Children die in consequence.

Probably because those figures are hard to come by. If you ask dp1, maybe she'll be able to tell you how many minors are living with the sex offenders she is supervising - what percentage have no minors living with them and the average # of minors living with the rest.

RSOs on probation or parole usually have restrictions in regards to having contact with minors. Rarely do they have permission to reside with children, However, sex offenders on supervision for other crimes not related to sex crimes generally do not have anything court ordered preventing them from living with children. RSOs on for FTR for example can usually live with children. All other RSOs who are not on supervision will be more likely to live with children since there is no law in Florida prohibiting such an arrangement. So what I am saying is that my perspective is scewed since I deal with RSOs on supervision.

SOS - Oh. Why didn't you say so?

SOS - Did what?
John - Forget it. I'm John Doe. I'm a sex offender. I'm calling to report suspicious activity
SOS - By who?
John - ME
SOS - Please stop yelling. What is the offender doing?
John - He...I'm backing my car out of the driveway
SOS - Why?
John - Because I'm going to the store
SOS - So?
John - Well, I thought you should know
SOS - Why would we want to know that?
John - You tell me. It's your hotline
SOS - We want to know what sex offenders are doing, not what you are doing
This could go on forever;-))
