Prosecutor Louis Miville-Deschenes said he and his colleagues decided against asking for dangerous offender status because the man claimed he was open to psychotherapy for his problem.


Okay let me see if I have this straight.... the man shows NO remorse for his crime and is deemed by the judge as being "incapable of showing empathy" AND has another outstanding charge for sexual touching of his neighbors daughter. Ok, got it. Now can someone PLEASE explain to me #1, why this man is only being sentenced to 15 years, and #2 Why they would not have pushed for declaring him a "dangerous" sex offender??? if it's because the man "claimed" he was open to psychotherapy, then the lead prosecuter needs to be removed from the case and replaced with someone willing to go after the max sentence for this man. I mean, get real, would they believe him if he claimed to be Jesus Christ re-incarnated too?

The man cannot be named to protect the identity of his daughter.

Kudos to the Canadians. The US in it's twisted logic would have his name, address and picture on the Net for the world to see. The media would even be so stupid as to say he did these things to "his two year-old daughter, whose name can't be published to protect her identity." As if he had a dozen of them.

One can hope that this is because of the typical reaction that "incest" offenses are not as bad as stranger offenses. Perhaps they have plans to tack on another 15 years consecutive to the first for the other offense? WE can hope.
