Someone had to take one for team, lol.

Now we wait to see how it will handled in court. Will a hotshot lawyer represent him and challenge the State, or will he just do his time on the taxpayer dollar?

I am sure other States are watching this REAL close.

"There's plenty of places that are left, although they seem to be shrinking in number as cities begin to pass ordinances, too."

Right. And they're doing the same thing Linn County did. "We don't CARE if you were already living there when we passed the law. You have to move."
So no matter where he goes, next month he'll have to move again. And the month after. And the month after.
I wonder if the County Jail is in violation of the law?

He could liquidate everything he has and take that cash and stroll to the jail and say, "I give up, Can I winter over here?" LOL

Get in touch with the media and have them follow his wife as she goes to apply for assistance and housing. Make a huge production out of how much it is going to cost the taxpayers to house the guy, welfare for his family, etc. Show a whole bunch of tears from the kids too, make it real emotional.

Iowa will get this guy, as they will all their offenders, those who do not escape to MO, MN or IL. They have a low number and can afford, for now, to go after these guys with laws that make them criminals for living where they live before the law was in effect.

even better if he was smart or lucky enought like me to have a judge order the wavier of all cost of supervison...well as far as i am concerned if you have to report to police and be registered and be watched then you are being supervised...go ahead and move and find a nice expensive house in one of the hi rent areas which usually don't have schools...and have the bill sent to DOC

Why not? let's make all laws retroactive. Lawmakers have opened Pandora's Box because I think this kind of law should also apply to people who have committed bank fraud, and should not be allowed near a bank, nor DUI cases should be allowed near a bar, a party, or even a home where there is alcohol. Domestic violence should be issued a mandatory, permanent restraining order from other people.
Just look at DUI, , drunk drivers are responsible for plenty of deaths:

"To analyze alcohol-related health impacts, CDC estimated the number of alcohol-attributable deaths (AADs) and years of potential life lost (YPLLs) in the United States during 2001. This report summarizes the results of that analysis, which indicated that approximately 75,766 AADs and 2.3 million YPLLs, or approximately 30 years of life lost on average per AAD, were attributable to excessive alcohol use in 2001. These results emphasize the importance of adopting effective strategies* to reduce excessive drinking, including increasing alcohol excise taxes and screening for alcohol misuse in clinical settings. "

"Of the estimated 2,279,322 YPLLs, 788,005 (35%) resulted from chronic conditions, and 1,491,317 (65%) resulted from acute conditions (Table). Overall, 1,679,414 (74%) of the total YPLLs were among males, and 271,392 (12%) involved persons aged 35 years, of which 53% were attributed to chronic conditions. Deaths from alcoholic liver disease resulted in 316,321 YPLLs, and deaths from motor-vehicle--traffic crashes resulted in 579,501 YPLLs. "

Let's keep on:

"Convicted rape and sexual assault offenders serving time in State prisons report that two-thirds of their victims were under the age of 18, and 58% of those--or nearly 4 in 10 imprisoned violent sex offenders--said their victims were aged 12 or younger.

In 90% of the rapes of children less than 12 years old, the child knew the offender, according to police-recorded incident data.

Among victims 18 to 29 years old, two-thirds had a prior relationship with the rapist.

Four datasets (the FBI's UCR arrests, State felony court convictions, prison admissions, and the National Crime Victimization Survey) all point to a sex offender who is older than other violent offenders, generally in his early 30's, and more likely to be white than other violent offenders."
1/97 NCJ 163392

I think we should start also making inquiries on every family in the U.S., since the majority of sex crimes are unreported and come from within the household. And a polygraph is in place. I wonder how many secrets are out there waiting to be discovered.
