Commissioners voted instead to require sex offenders who move into the town to register at Town Hall so Beverly Beach's 565 residents can be notified.
Isn't there internet service in Beverly Beach? I don't get why the FDLE website registration is good enough?

"(A sex offender) doesn't have to register where he's going, only where he's living," he said.
This one comment speaks volumes about the total idiocy of residency and proximity laws. I am awed and inspired that there are people in Florida politics that are actually intelligent. I had given up hope that such people existed.

That would virtually exclude offenders from the town and such a law would be illegal, City Attorney Sidney Nowell said.
That was my personal favorite line.......
Gee I am amazed that they didn't go the same route as Seminole County and Ban RSO's from traveling through the areas instead.

It was a stupid thought to attempt to enforce but this just shows you that people DONT want to live or have sex criminals near them.

If that is truely the case then "society" needs to stiffen the penalties for committing the crimes. Passing Laws that effect where the person can or can't live after they are released won't stem the tide of crimes being committed, all it does is force those that would otherwise be rehabilitated and lead productive lives into committing other crimes just to stay alive.
