In her legal response, Myers denies she told others about Matthews or led people to believe he was an offender.
Oh. Then the people doing all the yelling and picketing just 'happened' to see the same incorrect info at the same time she did? She's in denial amd needs some therapy;-))
The National Alert Registry says it relies on the accuracy of public records it uses.
Some advice for NAR. When you rely on public information that the state clearly says they don't guarantee the accuracy of, you better be certain of it. Because while the state can't be sued, YOU can;-))
Like I said in another thread, I've proposed an amendment to HR 3132 that prohibits anybody from doing this sort of thing. This is exactly why it is needed.

They need to make it illegal to redistribute the information, that should be the job of the internet and the police only. People are supposed to use the information for one purpose only. . .that purpose is to protect their children from potential risks to society, although I don't believe the current registry has the potential to do that at all, here is a clear example of why people need to be prohibited from using the information as they deem fit. Nice post.

I think Myers didn't try to get to the bottom of anything, she saw the listing and then told everyone that the guy was a sex offender instead of perhaps calling the local law enforcement to find out for sure.
It's a shame that even once your name is cleared you still have to leave because people really do change their opinion even if you are not guilty or have never been a sex offender. WTF folks??

Interesting concept. So theoretically, agencies like NAR and Raptor could be bankrupted for providing information from the public registries if they haven't verified that information to be completely accurate? How then do they verify the information? Would they have to pull complete background checks on each request they receive?
