This is basically unjust since the judges knew nothing at that time, and might, presumably in many cases would have, imposed a lighter sentence if they had of known.
People who went to prison, and were,as "SEX OFFENDERS!!!!!"" viciously punished again by the other prisoners and the prison might not have ,if the court had known they would be posted and pilloried for their offence.
It is also viciously cruel, non predatory offenders who will not reoffend, and have worked hard to be rehabilitated.who now have their Children with them(the address where these poor Children now live will be published, how long till Children burn in consequence?)will have an old offence thrown up in their face.
This will include young offenders, now much older and more mature, sometimes "Romeo and Juliet's",whose original offence may only have consisted of a consensual touching game at a party between teenagers.

Does Maine have a term limit for registration or does it require registration for life? The reason I ask is that if there is a time limit on it such as 10 years or 20 years then those people convicted in 1982 would be exempt from it anyway.

MaIne has two terms, 10 years or life. The term starts when the offender is placed on probation or when they are released from prison, either EOS or on conditional release.
