If government passes a law that gives a criminal life for a non-capital crime, that crime will become capital.
If a pedophile knows he'll get life for fondling a little girl, he may as well have sexual intercourse with her instead. And since the penality for that is the same as murdering her, he may as well kill her too.
We may not like the thought of grown men giving sexual pleasure to young girls or boys, but surely we like rape & murder less!
Nowhere does the lady talk about the illness of pedophilia and pederasty. Illnesses require treatments and cures. Just as an alcoholic knows he cannot take a drink, so a recovering pedophile should know he can't be alone with a child. But if a pedophile WANTS help, he cannot seek it if those in the helping professions are required to turn him in. It's logical that if a man is seeking help for a deviant behaviour, he KNOWS the behaviour is wrong and WANTS to stop! To punish such a man is criminal!
