You guys had better get your rears in gear and make your voices heard or you will only have yourselves to blame for just sitting by and letting this get through

I see a few issues with this.

If you noticed even if the ACLU starts touching sex offender laws it usually gets them a lot of negative feedback. And thats an organization that is general and 'tries' to protect everyone no matter what they are labeled.

Reason we are such a hot 'voting tool' for sleazy politicians is no matter how organized we get we will still be outnumbered by the christian and neo-parent 'who cares about civil rights for those we hate' organizations that have tons of money and votes to throw around.

Des Moines Register (news paper) recently did a poll on what people are concerned about in the 2006 Legislature. Sex crimes were not even one of the top 5 but for the past 2 months the only headlines that are coming out of the capital are sex offender laws. Since its easy to distract people with the fears of the boogie man then important issues.

What needs to be done is more info getting in the hands of the ordinary person. the middle class. Each time a new sex offender law comes out the politicians repeat the 'high recidivism rate' and other evils of the sex offender population to justify the harsh laws and parents feel good about it . When someone comes along that actually works with sex offenders they are often thought of as 'tainted' by the sex offender 'charisma' and when they say it wont work or those 'statements' aren't accurate they are usually ignored as sex offender co conspirators ( i think thats how its spelled).

Since it seems justifiable to do just about anything to a sex offender I can just imagine what would happen if sex offender organized and started our own groups. The days of the KKK and the nazi atrocities would be a picnic compared to what would happen to sex offenders and thier families. ' But thats ok because its needed to protect the children'

As i have been saying for a long time now - sex offenders ultimate goal is power and control. Our victims were weaker then us and powerless to stop us. Its kind of sad when you get the same behavior out of the politicians that are suppose to be above that.

My two cents worth..

See an abbreviation or acronym, but don't know what it stands for? Consult the Glossary.
